The Gringa & the Musician, A clash of Cultures and Passions. A documentary by Roberto Pazos

The film that helped bring justice to a nearly 20-year-old murder

The Gringa & the Musician is based on the true story of Aune Hartmann, a German environmentalist who traveled to South America to support Indigenous communities.

During her journey, Aune was brutally murdered. As years passed, failures and corruption within the justice systems of Peru and Bolivia allowed the killer to remain free—leaving Aune’s family and friends struggling to find answers across borders, languages, and cultures.

This film is about a life cut short and the long road toward justice.

The story of Aune Hartmann will captivate and sadden as the film follows her accomplishments and failures as she tries to help people but not understanding why her help is shunned.

The Film

Shot on location in Peru, Bolivia, Germany and Brazil, The Gringa and the Musician features interviews with her family, friends and the people she encountered in the four countries.   Their testimonials weave a story that will shed new light on what has been an open secret in rural Peru.

This film is presented in both English with Spanish subtitles and Spanish with English subtitles.
